I’ve been driving to the same office for over twenty years, and I still couldn’t tell someone exactly which compass direction it is from my house, or exactly how far.  (I feel like I know, more or less, but I don’t have much idea how accurate those feelings really are.)  But I can tell people exactly which streets to follow, exactly where all the turns are, etc.  So I know how to get there, which is all I need.

We tend to think of location based on how we travel to it.  Same for these Martians!
